AHRI and Document Center Inc. sign Distribution Agreement for Standards

AHRI and Document Center Inc. have just signed a new distribution agreement for the AHRI standards.  This adds AHRI standards in both pdf single copy format and as multi-user subscriptions to Document Center’s rapidly expanding catalog.  For those of you in the air-conditioning, refrigeration, and heating industry, you’ll appreciate the extension of our services for the AHRI standards set.

What is AHRI?  AHRI is the Air-Conditioning, Heating and Refrigeration Institute.  The organization has a long history, starting with the Refrigeration Equipment Manufacturers Association and the Air-Conditioning and Refrigerating Machinery Association.  These two entities merged in 1953 to form the ARI, Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration Institute.  So many of you know this standards set as the ARI standards.

In 2008 ARI then merged with GAMA, the Gas Appliance Manufacturers Association, thus forming AHRI as we know it today.  The Institute maintains over 115 Standards as well as approximately 16 Guidelines (some are published both in inch-pound and metric formats).   And the number of these publications continues to grow each year.

You’ll also be interested to know that it is part of AHRI’s mission to promote HVACR Industry issues both at the U.S. federal level and with various states around the country.  This involves an active advocacy program as well as education, training and regulatory support.  AHRI considers the HVACR community to be an essential component for meeting energy conservation goals around the world.  In particular, it’s workforce training program is geared to help develop the 57,000 skilled workers needed for this critical industry.

Where does Document Center Inc. come into all this?  Here at Document Center we have a clearinghouse of standards from around the globe.  Our customers can use our catalog at www.document-center.com to search for and order standards from a wide selection of standards developing organizations.  The addition of AHRI standards in pdf format and as part of our Standards Online multi-user platform will be of value to our customer base and to the standards community at large.

We’re pleased to have AHRI join our family of standards developers.  The new agreement for AHRI and Document Center will mean your standards purchasing options have been expanded.  Here at Document Center we look forward to providing you, the AHRI standards user, with the services and formats you need when you’re making the standards purchasing decision.  Remember, Document Center Inc. has been working with standards since 1982.  Make us your Standards Experts!

ISO 14000 Store Launched by Document Center Inc.

Document Center has launched the ISO 14000 Store now that the new 2015 Edition of the ISO 14001 is here!  You’ll reach this new Document Center store at http://iso14000.document-center.com.  It allows you to order and download the ISO 14001 2015 Edition immediately, as well as  all the other ISO standards related to Environmental Management Systems.

Why set up a ISO 14000 Store?  We know that many standards users have specific challenges to solve when coming to our standards store.  So we’re developing a whole series of specialized stores to help you easily find and keep track of the documents that matter the most to your business.  After all, with over 800,000 standards in our catalog, that’s a lot of information that you really don’t need or want to know about.  We make it easy.  Interested in Environmental Standards?  Go direct to our ISO 14000 store!

How does the ISO 14000 store work?  It’s easy and it’s fast.

Find the standards you need one of 3 ways.  First, when you get to http://iso14000.document-center.com, use the scroll bar on the right side to see all the standards in this collection.  Second, use the ICS code classifications on the left hand side to find the Environmental standards for such groups as “bundles” (the two standards collections available for this series), transport (nested under services), and so on. Third, use the search box at the top to search for a standard included in this grouping.

Add the standards you need to your cart.  You’ll be required to log in at this point.  If you’re a regular Document Center customer, the new stores will require a separate registration, but it’s quick and easy.  The log in page has a link for registering and you’ll define your own user name and password at this point.

Another thing to note about the stores is that they use credit card payment and provide you with an immediate pdf download for the standards you need.  No need to wait, as can be the case with our main catalog and store (www.document-center.com).  However, if you prefer to use Purchase Orders (our U.S. customers only) or need delivery in paper format, you’ll want to stick with our main site.

Will there be more topic-specific stores from Document Center Inc.?  You bet!  We’re launching an ISO 9000 store now as well and I’ll give you more information on that next week.

These Document Center stores have an additional benefit for the standards community.  They include various Toolboxes, which are white papers, links, and videos that contain valuable information for people using these standards.  So if you have any collateral material that would be helpful to people using the ISO 14000 series of standards, please get in touch.  We’d love to add your material to our Toolboxes.  While it’s not an endorsement of your organization, it will provide you with valuable exposure to folks who are looking for expert advice.

Test out the ISO 14000 store from Document Center Inc. today!  You’ll find it easy to use, with the immediate satisfaction of getting your standard right as you purchase it!

Document Center has signed a distribution agreement with ASA

We are pleased to announce that Document Center has signed a distribution agreement with ASA, the Acoustical Society of America.  The new contract expands Document Center Inc. offerings to include all ASA standards in both paper format and for pdf download.  Additionally, the ASA standards collection is available for multi-user access via Document Center’s Standards Online subscription service.   You can find a complete listing of the ANSI/ASA standards here.

About ASA:

ASA is the ANSI Standards Developer for the S1, S2, S3 and S12 series of standards on acoustics, bioacoustics, noise and mechanical vibration and shock.  Additionally ASA operates as the U.S. TAG (Technical Advisory Group) for two ISO Technical Committees (TCs) and one IEC TC.  And in addition to standards, ASA publishes a journal (JASA, the Journal of the Acoustical Society of America) and other technical publications.

Standards Online Demo — Try it now!

Document Center Inc. released it’s online subscription product last year.  Now Standards Online has undergone it’s first major update and is available for your review.  Access the Standards Online Demo and register for your free two week trial.  The features and functions in this new release are tailored to your needs for compliance to your specific list of standards.

What’s new for Standards Online with this release?  Lots!  The new release is easy to use.  For the individual customer, there’s the ability to open, print and save your standards copies in accordance with your contract.  You’re able to search your list of standards to quickly retrieve the document you need.  And you can search within a standard to find either a specific clause or word for those times when you know exactly what you need.

Another great feature for our users is the Toolkit.  Here you’ll find a number of compliance tools to help your organization work with the standards you use.  For example, there’s the List of Harmonized Standards for the EU.  You can click the link for any Directive that has harmonized standards and go straight to the latest edition of it’s list.  Now you’ll always be able to see exactly what requirements you need to meet at any given time!

Of course, there’s additional features for the administrator of your standards collection.  With our enterprise account, up to 3 staff members can get these premium access rights.  You’ll be able to manage the employees who have the right to use the portal.  And you’ll get a range of reports so you can see who’s using the system and what standards are being accessed.

A special feature of Standards Online is the ability to take advantage of the expertise of the Document Center staff.  Standards Online customers use our ticket system for questions about how to use standards and get fast and accurate responses.  And Standards Online customers also get custom training sessions.  We’ll be providing training on European Standards for our Standards Online customers starting in June.  This training also shows you how to take maximum advantage of the Toolkit for improved compliance.

Interested?  Go ahead and try the Standards Online Demo for your free two week trial.  Go to demo.document-center.com now.  Just register for your free access to our portal.  There’s a number of public domain documents on the site so you’ll be able to test drive the system with real standards.

We know you’ll like what you see!  So it’s time to get started.  Generate a list of the standards you’ll want on your service.  Send your list to our support personnel by email (info@document-center.com) and we’ll work with you to set up your parameters for your service.  All subscriptions require information on the number of sites (physical locations) of the folks in your company that will be using the service plus the number of people who would be looking at any 1 document at 1 time.

Still have questions?  Just check in with Document Center Inc. to get all the answers you need.  We’re available by phone (650-591-7600), fax (650-591-7617) and email (info@document-center.com).  Remember — we’re your Standards Experts!

Happy Holidays from Document Center Inc.

Happy Holidays!  It’s the time of year to get together with family and enjoy some well-earned time off.  Here at Document Center Inc. we wish you all a warm and wonderful holiday and a terrific New Year.  We’ll be closed Thursday December 25th and Friday December 26th so that we can all be with family too!

It’s been a good year for us and we hope it’s been good for you too.  We launched our Standards Online subscription service this year, providing multi-user subscription access for a wide range of publications.  This is a big step forward for us in our quest to provide you with a complete compliance environment.  Look forward to a major upgrade of this service next year!

Other milestones this year include our new contract with the Swedish Standards Institute.  This allows us to offer you EN standards in all formats (paper, pdf download and multi-user access).  And the prices for these editions are very attractive, too.  Count on Document Center to help you keep the costs for standardization down.

Our two blogs continue to offer a wide range of relevant information on new releases and other issues of interest to the compliance community.  If you haven’t reviewed blog.document-center.com yet, be sure to take a look.

Another item of note: we will be closed Wednesday December 31st and Thursday January 1st as well.  This is the time of year when many standards associations update prices, so the technical staff here at Document Center will be busy during that time revising our catalog to reflect the new costs.

Have you registered at our Document Center website, www.document-center.com?  This year we have customized the site to provide you with an assortment of important information on your account each time you do!  You’ll find it to be an important tool in your system for keeping your standards up-to-date.  So be sure to register and take advantage of the information you’ll find there.

Here in Silicon Valley, the sun is shining after a very wet December.  We’re very glad to get the water, since California is in a severe drought.  But we’re all looking forward to a glorious Holiday.  We hope you and yours have a wonderful one too.  And our best wishes for 2015!

Wishing you a Wonderful Holiday Season!

The Holiday vacation season is just about here!  At Document Center, we follow the UPS calendar, so we’ll be open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday during the Christmas week.  And we’ll be closed both Tuesday and Wednesday the following week for New Year’s.  We’re looking forward to the festivities of the holidays and hope you are too!

This has been a solid year for us at Document Center, with 10% growth in our revenues.  Not only have our existing customers relied on us for the many updates that have occurred this year, but new customers are finding us via our website and this blog.

Our website, www.document-center.com, was revamped in 2012.  It has a number of ways to review standards by topic areas that make it easy for those interested in compliance to use.  And our traditional premium services, Standards Alert, Standards Express, and Standards Informer, provide a range of tools supporting good standards management.

To support our growth, we’ve added additional functionality to the website.  You can now log in and see the status of the standards you’ve purchased from us, as well as reviewing your orders for a historical perspective.

I’ve also started a second blog on the website itself (blog.document-center.com), where I feature new releases in specific topic areas.  Use this new blog to keep up with the changing direction of standards in the subjects you require for your business.

In 2014, expect to see more innovation at our web store.  We’ll be offering subscription services, allowing you to have networked access to the various standards you use in your business.  And, of course, we’ll continue to find ways to help you identify, purchase and maintain your standards collection.

Everyone’s managed to weather a government shut down this year and it looks like we’ll be able to avoid another in the up-coming year.  So there’s plenty for us all to be thankful for!

These developments are all because of you, our customers.  Your feedback directs our efforts in improving our services to you.  Our mission remains the same:  To offer you superior sales and services for your technical documentation needs.

We appreciate your business very much.  Thanks for a great 2013.

We’re wishing you a wonderful holiday season and all the best in 2014!
