AMS QQ-P-416, “Plating, Cadmium (Electrodeposited),” has just been revised and the new Revision E is available from Document Center Inc. You’ll be able to purchase this new update in paper format or for pdf download. It replaces the Revision D from July 2015 (now obsolete.)
AMS QQ-P-416 has come a long way since it migrated from being a Federal Specification to an industry standard. Yet it continues to be a heavily used document throughout industry. It is the go-to standard for electrodeposited cadmium plating and has been for years.
The update resolves a couple of issues. First, there were some errors in Table 1a in the last edition and these have been corrected. Additionally, the ’24 hour minimum’ has been removed from the drying time requirement of 3.2.8.1.
