ASTM A370 2016 is here!

ASTM A370 2016, “Standard Test Methods and Definitions for Mechanical Testing of Steel Products,” has just been released.  It’s  a series of test methods that cover the mechanical testing of steels, stainless steels, and other related alloys.  You’ll use these tests to determine properties that may be required in a product specification.  The 2016 Edition replaces the previous 2015 Edition which is now obsolete.  And it is a frequently used standard, often among our top 20 best sellers in any given year.

This is a 60-page standard, so finding the changes can be a bit of a challenge.  Document Center recommends using a Red-Line Edition to solve this problem.  When you purchase an ASTM Red-Line, you get your new release plus a copy of the previous edition “marked-up” so you can see all the updates.  It is provided for a nominal premium and will more than make up for the added cost with the time savings you’ll experience.

In this case, the new ASTM A370 2016 Edition has an additional ASTM standard in the referenced documents section.  Reference to this new document replaces Annex A7.  Additionally, Annex A9 has been deleted with the information formerly in this section now integrated into the relevant product specifications.  Your authoring committee A01 also notes that a precision and bias statement has been added in Section 30.  And Annex A3 has been revised so that you can test parts greater than 8 inches in length using Method 1.

One other thing to note:  ASTM A370 seems to be revised at least annually, and sometimes twice a year or more.  This makes it a perfect candidate for inclusion in a Standards Online cloud-access subscription service from Document Center Inc.  This annual service includes all updates within the subscription period at no additional cost.  Check it out!

You’ll want to order a copy of this new edition if you’re using the standard.  So head to Document Center’s webstore at www.document-center.com and place your order now.  Here’s a direct link to the order page for ASTM A370 for your convenience.  And if you have further questions or want to know more about our products and services, please contact our staff by phone (650-591-7600) or email (info@document-center.com).  Make us your Standards Experts!
