MIL-STD-348 updated!

MIL-STD-348, “Radio Frequency Connector Interfaces for MIL-DTL-3643, MIL-DTL-3650, MIL-DTL-3655, MIL-DTL-25516, MIL-PRF-31031, MIL-PRF-39012, MIL-PRF-49142, MIL-PRF-55339, MIL-DTL-83517,” has just been revised.  This is a Department of Defense Interface Standard and provides the user with the dimensional requirements for the specified connector interfaces.  The new Revision B is a complete overhaul of the standard.  The previous Revision A (now obsolete) was last modified by Notice 6 in 2003.

The first 5 pages of the standard cover the usual requirements – scope, referenced documents, definitions and so on.  The real bulk of the document is in the various  sections, one for each of the Military Specifications referenced in the title.  Each section includes figures for the related series of RF connectors, with complete interface diagrams.  There are also tables which provide you with the dimensions for each, specified by dimension letter.

Since the MIL-STD-348 B is 222 pages long, you can see that it contains a wealth of information necessary for correctly fulfilling contracts that make use of the applicable Military Specifications.  It’s a major re-write of the previous edition so there are no lines in the margins to identify where changes have occured.  You’ll have 12 months from the issue date of the standard to comply with the new requirements.
